So here it was the final race of the year for our Top Ten list racers which had 5 real close pairings. We had Brian against Jeff. Jamie against Me (Steve), Paul racing Justin, Rick racing Trent and Scott against Aaron. Going into the finals with less than 2 tenths between any of the pairings and racing against the Pro Tree, it could have gone any way. After the dust cleared, mostly from the gale force winds causing flying fiberglass
hoods (litterly) to attack defenceless Falcons, the end results are listed above.

Brian and his Mustang took the #1 spot with a smoking 8.96 at 150.45 mph with Jeff finishing second with a 9.36 at 142.10. I (Steve) was paired against Jamie who blew me away in the 60ft and left me wondering what happened. Paul took on Justin who was racing his Dad Keith's wheel standing 1967 Buick with Paul coming out on top. Then it was Rick's turn to take on Trent's trailer pulling Malibu against Rick's big cubic inch Camaro, who also drives out to the track, It was Rick's Camaro coming out on top who then called out Justin and stole his spot. Scott and his extra clean Cutlass took out Aaron who is now the gatekeeper for next year and says he is going to do some changes to keep the new guys from sneaking on to our list. To show you how close the guys are the middle 5 racers were less than 2 tenths apart.

The Top Ten participants all got numbered decals to wear on their cars for the positions they finished in and now our job next year is to defend them from you guys that are going to participate in the program next year. We all had a blast running in this and Brian would like to Thank you guys for participating in the program and making it a success. We had 139 cars running in this final event of the year! The Street Legal committee would also like to thank all the people who volunteered in Tech, Staging, and the start line as we were scrambling to handle all the cars. Here’s hoping to see all of the racers, volunteers, and spectators again next year.

So here I am, Racemaster Steve signing off till next year.
Pictures with write ups of the top 10 winners will be posted soon, so keep your eyes open.

So after a summer of Street legal racing this is how it sorts out. We had the street cruise on Saturday and the guys that showed up for it all made the journey with no issues and I must admit it looked truly cool as we cruised about 6000 hp around the city. Brian and I would like to thank you guys for making this program what it is and your enthusiasm for it has made us very excited about it. We had a number of guys fall from the list as they didn't make the street cruise as they were busy with other things and couldn't make it. Nolan Penner had a good chance at a spot till last weekend when his 1 piece crankshaft became a 3 piece crankshaft which is too bad as he was looking forward to the street cruise. Andy McEwlee had a great shot at the #1 spot but that darn job got in the way again and interfered with his cruise and the final race. Thank you guys for participating and we look forward to having you in the program next year. So as you can see from our list it looks like all very close match ups all the way down. Brian will be taking on Jeff, Jamie and I will be going at it, Paul against Justin, Rick against Trent and Scott against our new gatekeeper Aaron. For the finals we will be running heads up Pro Tree and we will be running a separate lane for the Top Ten guys and be giving you 2 test runs before we run the finals. After the finals you will be given 1 chance to call out the guy ahead of you to advance position if you think you can. I want all of you to put together and we will be parking along the main drive up road. I will clear this with Skippy and see if that works for him or if he wants us in another spot.

At the end of the event Brian and I would like all you guys to meet with us. Really looking forward to next weekend so get your cars set on kill and lets go at it to see who is going to set the spots for the guys next year who will be trying to take them from us. I presently know of 4 cars that really want to steal the spots next year. On a side note, the weather for our first Sunday event was perfect and we had 113 cars show up and it was great to see the lanes packed. So as always Performance Plus and the Street Legal committee thank you for your support and see you
next weekend

AND That's a Wrap!!!

Well it is time for the street cruise portion of our Top Ten list cars.

We will be meeting at Performance Plus Saturday Morning September 19th at 10 AM sharp and will proceed from there, The cruise is a must for the guys in the Top Ten positions and for anyone that thinks they have a chance at filling one of the Top Ten positions if someone falls out. The cruise portion is also open to anyone that has held a position on the list through the year and we also welcome anyone that will be interested in being in the program next year. We want the best of behavior from you guys as we cruise through the city and ripping it up will not be tolerated. We are representing the track and the program so save the showing off for the track.

We will be driving from Performance Plus going down 22nd towards the river and will cruise down Spadina heading north to the end of Whiteswan Drive turning around heading all the way back to 22nd, then past the Radisson Hotel turning left at lights going up the Broadway bridge, down Broadway turning left on 8th Street down to the end of 8th and make the turn around before Circle Drive and then meet at the Co-Op parking lot on 8th Street. Anyone that doesn't make it or falls out well you can try again next year. Really looking forward to our performance car parade so see you next Saturday morning.

#9 Rick Bell    1968 Camaro 10.80  124.03mph
#10 Nolan Penner    1966Fairlane 10.93  122.02mph

Was another warm one and the track was a little on the slippery side from the previous weekend the jet cars had ran and took a lot of the traction out of the track. Andy was going to kiss Shawn if he sprayed the track but I think that was the kiss of death for us. However was a good night with 96 cars coming out and a lot of spectators to watch the action. There were a bunch of changes in position on the list as most of the list guys were out to make their mark as the season winds down. Jeff Campbell finally fell from the top of the list as he was displaced by Brian Stephenson by 1 100th of a second and on that note Andy McEwlee and Brian had a heads up matchup near the end of the night and under the lights

Brian ran a 9.16 at 153.79 to Andy's rapidly closing 9.32 a very impressive race that could have gone either way. I paired up with Trent Turner and edged him out with a 10.88 to his 11.01 and paid him back for beating me last time. Then paired up with Jamie Marjoram who beat me 3 times in a row as his Mustang beat me in the 60 ft every time and left me unable to catch him and I still have his taillights etched in my mind. Paul Fehr had his nitrous working and finally made his spot back on the list with a 10.72 at 127mph. Nolan Penner now is the gate keeper and Trent Turner is bumped out of that spot with Nolan only 1/100th ahead of him.

Things are definitely heating up as we head to the season finale. Don't forget about the cruise on September 19th with a final meeting time to be put up on the Performance Plus facebook

sight within the next couple weeks. Performance Plus and the Street Legal Committee Thank You for participating in our Street Legal program and Brian and I would also like to Thank all our Top Ten participants for making this one of the most exciting seasons for us out here at SIR

Top Ten List August 8th 2015

TOP TEN PARTICIPANT STREET CRUISE September 19!! All racers that made the list at any time invited. All entrants planning on running the final shootout must attend.

#1 Jeff Campbell    1965 Nova SS 9.17  145.02mph
#2 Brian Stephenson    1983 Mustang 9.19  153.88mph
#3 Mark Dyck    1979 Mustang 10.09  133.95mph
#4 Andy McEwlee    1967 Nova SS 10.17  136.19mph
#5 Ben Weeks    1967 Charger 10.38  131.28mph
#6 Steve Betker    1964 Falcon 10.48  128.66mph
#7 Jamie Marjoram    1989 Mustang 10.54  128.06mph
#8 Rick Bell    1968 Camaro 10.80  124.03mph
#9 Nolan Penner    1966 Fairlane 10.93  122.02mph
#10 Trent Turner    1978 Malibu 10.94  124.33mph

Rain was threatening to end the event with them predicting rain through the day and even as I drove out passed through some very heavy rain so things did not look good for getting this event done. Got out to the track and it had not rained there and we did not get anything till they called 10 minutes to go to end the event for the evening and then it was just enough to make it unsafe to run.

We had a number of Top Ten List participants come anyway and they were all trying to improve on their times, however none of them had any success, Ben Weeks had battery problems, Jamie's transmission wasn't working right, Trent was trying to figure out his carb jetting and Paul was fighting with his Nitrous full throttle switch and just as he got that fixed and got in the lanes the rain came. Sean Hildebrandt brought out his Cutlass and spent the night sorting out his car but it fought him so he will keep working on it to try and get a spot. Nolan Penner was out and ran 11.04 which wasn't as fast as his best pass but was still good as the air wasn't as good do the high humidity. Jamie was only 1/100th off his best pass even though his transmission wasn't shifting into second as it should. this is just a reminder how difficult it is to have a fast street car. If anyone thinks this is easy there is a ton of time and money in these cars to get them drivable as well as fast.

Brian and I discussed a date for the street cruise and we are going to do it the Saturday before the first Sunday race so September 19th we will be getting together for a cruise through the city so get your cars prepared for some city driving. The cruise is open to anyone that has been on the list this summer so I am hoping to have as many guys out as can make it out. There will be more information as we get closer to the cruise.

We will especially need the guys that are on the Top Ten List at that point to come out and show us your street driveability so there will be no question you deserve a spot. So Thanks again from Performance Plus and the Street Legal committee for coming out and supporting us.

"Put Up or Shut Up – Top Ten Fastest Street Car”

New Top Ten List July 24th 2015
#1 Jeff Campbell   1965 Nova SS 9.17  145.02mph
#2 Brian Stephenson   1983 Mustang 9.19  153.88mph
#3 Mark Dyck    1979 Mustang 10.09  133.95mph
#4 Andy McEwlee   1967 Nova SS 10.17  136.19mph
#5 Ben Weeks    1967 Charger 10.38  131.28mph
#6 Steve Betker   1964 Falcon 10.48  128.66mph
#7 Jamie Marjoram   1989 Mustang 10.54  128.06mph
#8 Rick Bell   1968 Camaro 10.80  124.03mph
#9 Noland Penner   1966 Fairlane 10.93  122.02mph
#10 Trent Turner    1978 Malibu 10.94  124.33mph

Well with only 4 events left till the final this is how it is stacking up. Some of the previous contenders still have a shot of one of the top spots if the guys that are presently on the list don't make at least 4 events or can't make the street cruise to show their car is street able so don't count yourselves out yet. This event Trent Turner returned with his flat black Malibu with a newly installed 6.0 ls instead of his 5.3 and will be sorting it out at the next few events and will be trying to make his way up the list. His combination consists of a stock 6.0 with only a camshaft change and even has stock exhaust manifolds and as he sorts out the nitrous will definitely be quicker. Brian Stephenson came out to make some passes but do to the fact that

he forgot his pants made a pass of 10.33 at a blistering 84mph and no he did not race in his under ware as that is not NHRA legal. With a new set of tires I was able to hook up a little better and proceeded to steal Jamie Marjoram"s spot which I imagine he will try to steal back. We had Brad Wuitchik from North Battleford in his show worthy 1972 Camaro come down and he ran 10.72 at 127.97 but won't be able to be on the list as he told me he wouldn't be able to make it down for 4 events as apparently there is something silly like his job that doesn't make it possible to do it this year but he is hoping we can do it again next year so he can compete. TJ Friesen brought her Mustang out which is low 11 second capable and a true street car which would give her a chance to be the first woman on the list when everything shakes out at the end of the year.

As always Thanks for coming out from Performance Plus and the Street Legal Committee.

Hope to see you out at our upcoming events.

#9 Noland Penner    1966 Fairlane 10.93  122.02mph
#10 Trent Turner   1978 Malibu 10.94  124.33mph

Another very hot evening just like last event with a high that day of 36 degrees yet we still ended up with a good turnout of cars and spectators.

Brian Stephenson brought his 1983 Mustang out fresh from running out at Swift Current on the previous weekend in their Fastest Street Car Shootout and ran a 9.17 this evening even after taking the long way down the quarter mile. He said he has a few other additions he will be doing to it to make even more street able. His mph was the highest of any of the participants this year at 153.88mph which by the way is done on motor with no power adder.

Andy McEwlee also ran at Swift last weekend and on just a 275 Drag Radial turned a best of 8.86 at 156mph and will be back at one of our future events to show us how it is done and move to number 1.

Another new edition to our list as Ben Weeks in his 1967 Charger added his car to our list with his 572 cubic inch powered Dodge which he reminded me saying big car, big motor..

Just a reminder to all of the guys in the running for the Top Ten List that in order to qualify for the year end positions you must participate in at least 4 events to qualify for the year end run off and we only have 5 more events before we have our run off.

So once again looking forward to seeing you guys and your fast street cars coming out and showing us what your cars can do and thanks from Performance Plus and the Street Legal Committee for supporting our events.

#9 Paul Fehr    1968 GTX 11.02  121.85mph
#10 Rock Major   2012 Camaro 11.37  122.69mph

Last event we had the rain this event we had brutal heat which raised the air altitude factor and would suck the power out of the cars making it hard to improve on our times. The list will remain the same other than one small change as I was able to improve on my ET and MPH with a little extra nitrous boost. Paul Fehr was back to try out his nitrous system but a collapsed fuel line ended his day early and he will have to wait for the next event where I am sure he will climb up the list. Jeff Campbell has his computer fixed for his turbo system and will be back at one of the next events to try his car again. Sean Hildebrandt was also going to give this event a shot with his nitrous bottles filled but transmission troubles intervened so he to will have to wait till another event to give it a try. Brian from Performance Plus has his Mustang ready to go and will also be coming out soon to try for a spot on the list that he was a big part of setting up. Looking forward to seeing that. He even put on a whole new exhaust to quiet down for the street cruise. We are still looking for some more quick street cars to come out and give our list guys a run for their money and make us work for a spot so if you have a high performance street car come out and give it a try and make these guys work for their spot on the list as we look for the quickest actual street car in the area. So once again from Performance Plus and the Street Legal committee thanks for coming out and hope to see you at one of our next events.

“Put Up or Shut Up – Top Ten Fastest Street Car”

New Top Ten List June 26th 2015
#1 Jeff Campbell   1965 Nova SS 9.17  145.02mph
#2 Mark Dyck   1979 Mustang 10.09  133.95mph
#3 Andy McEwlwee   1967 Nova SS 10.17  136.19mph
#4 Jamie Marjoram    1989 Mustang 10.54  128.06mph
#5 Steve Betker   1964 Falcon 10.68  127.85mph

#7 Noland Penner   1966 Fairlane 10.93  122.20mph
#8 Trent Taylor    1978 Malibu 10.94 1 24.33mph
#9 Paul Fehr    1968 GTX 11.02  121.85mph
#10 Rock Major    2012 Camaro 11.37  122.69mph

Not many changes to the List this event as Mr. Weather was threatening to rain on our event keeping many of the list chasers away, by the way he didn't let us down at around 8 it started raining which led to the quickest emptying of the pits that I have seen in a long time. Another major change to the List was Chris Knops has sold the Camaro and it has gone to its new home and has opened up a spot moving Noland Penner, Trent Turner and Paul Fehr each up a position and pulling Michael Ryall driving Rock Major's 2012 Camaro to the gatekeepers spot with an 11.37 at 122.69mph. Sean Hildebrant will have his car ready for the next event with his G Body Hurst/Olds with a nitrous assist on its Oldsmobile power and will be trying for his spot, Chris Kirchgessner will also be trying for a spot in the near future with his Satellite which will hopefully bring some more Dodge/Plymouth power to our list. Paul Fehr came out to try out his nitrous system and chop his way down the list but was late getting there and by the time he changed tires, got to the lanes just in time for it to rain and then changed tires and had to drive back to Osler in the rain and I hear he is still cleaning his car from the drive. This is what the List is supposed to be about, real street cars that you can actually drive and yet take to the track but still be driven on the streets and highways.

So as always Performance Plus and the Street Legal committee thank you for coming out and hope to see you and your performance cars out at our track to have some fun as we fill our Top Ten list.

New Top Ten List May 29th 2015
#1 Jeff Campbell   1965 Nova SS 9.17  145.02mph #2 Mark Dyck    1979 Mustang 10.09  133.95mph #3 Andy McEwlwee    1967 Nova SS 10.17  136.19mph #4 Jamie Marjoram   1989 Mustang 10.54  128.60mph #5 Steve Betker   1964 Falcon 10.68  127.85mph #6 Rick Bell    1968 Camaro 10.80  124.03mph #7 Curtis Knops    2000 Camaro 10.87  124.80mph #8 Noland Penner    1966 Fairlane 10.93  122.20mph #9 Trent Turner    1978 Malibu 10.94  124.33mph #10 Paul Fehr    1968 GTX 11.02  121.85mph

So here we are 4th Performance Plus Street Legal Top Ten list race wrapped up and as always many changes to the list as the high performance street cars showing up to claim their position.

Jeff Campbell retains his #1 position with a best of 9.17 so far this season but electronic management problems have temporarily side lined him. Mark Dyck and his alcohol powered Mustang retains his #2 position with a super 10.09 improving from last week's 10.11. Andy McElwee drops to 10.17 from his previous weeks 10.71 and now that he has his NHRA license look for him to fly to the top of the list and leave everyone in the dust as he ran a 9.09 on Saturday SIR test and tune at 150mph. Jamie switches spots with Andy this week as his procharged Mustang slides into #4 spot with a 10.54. As a side note I got to run him at the end of the night and it was a excellent race him beating me 10.61 to my 10.68 leaving me to think of a way to squeeze more power out of my Falcon so I can sneak by him, I know more nitrous... #5 spot goes to me Steve Betker alias race master with a 10.68 in my Windsor powered 1964 Falcon on Nitrous. #6 spot now goes to Rick Bell and his 1968 Camaro with a 565 BBC which he drives to the track switches tires and ran a 10.80 with and who's car I know easily as well as mine.

#7 spot is still held by Curtis Knops in his 2000 Camaro with a 10.87 which he ran at 1st race of the year. New comer to the list is Noland Penner and his super clean 1966 Fairlane with 427 FE power and brings yet another Ford to the list with a 10.93 putting him in #8 position. #9 spot is held by Trent Turner in his LS powered nitrous Malibu who we are waiting to see come back and improve on his times. This week's gate keeper spot is held by my buddy Paul Fehr's 1968 GTX giving the Plymouth/Dodge guys a spot on the list and Ben Weeks and Chris Kirchgessner are thinking of rectifying this in the near future. Paul will also be looking for deep 10's as he has figured out why his nitrous system didn't work letting me lay a whoopin on him, Sorry Paul. I am very impressed with the way the bump spot has gone and in only 4 events now you have to have a 11.0 car or quicker car for a spot.

Looking forward to a summer cruise with the list guys where we will sort out the real street cars from the posers so make sure you have your cars ready to take on the streets for a test coming soon.

Performance Plus and the Street Legal committee thank you for coming out and racing your cars here in a safe and regulated manner. o come out and bring your car and lets shake the tree and see what falls out as we try and find the quickest real street car in the area. Even if you don't have a list car get together with your friends and come out and watch as we try to climb to the top and claim the crown.

New Top Ten List May 2nd 2015
#1 Jeff Campbell    1965 Nova SS 9.17  145.02mph
#2 Mark Dyck    1979 Mustang 10.11  133.13mph
#3 Jamie Marjoram    1989 Mustang 10.68  128.27mph
#4 Andy McElwee    1966 Nova SS 10.71  134.30mph
#5 Curtis Knops    2000 Camaro 10.87  124.80mph
#6 Trent Turner    1978 Malibu 10.94  124.33mph
#7 Chris Spence    1989 Mustang 11.52  115.37mph
#8 Paul Balez    1979 Malibu 11.55  116.80mph
#9 Scott Gerhardt    1968 Cutlass 11.55  115.37mph
#10 Shaun Teo    2009 Nissan GTR 11.57  124.24mph

The first Friday night Performance Plus Street Legal event for 2015 is now in the books and brought with it more changes and from last events bump of 11.81 dropped to 11.57 as the #10 spot.

Jeff Campbell retains the #1 spot with his twin turbo Nova with best ET of 9.17 from last event and this events best of 9.25 was not far behind. Sliding into #2 spot was Mark Dyck's 1979 Mustang with a stroker Windsor on alcohol at 10.11 and #3 spot went to Jamie Marjoram's ProCharger small block 1989 Mustang with a 10.68 and it was nice to see a couple of actual Ford powered cars move into some of top spots. No bias from me of course. Andy McElwee gets sent back to #4 spot which I am pretty sure he will rectify in the near future with his Nitrous big block Nova which I saw cruising down Warman Road a few weeks ago with his ET of 10.71. Curtis Knops in his 2000 Camaro rounds out the top 5 with his best of 10.87. Trent Turner moves from #4 to #6 with his stealthy 1978 Malibu with his best of 10.94. Chris Spence is #7 spot with his BBC powered 1989 Mustang which I hear he is switching to a BBF in search of faster times, this is of course a rumor I started...lol. Paul Balez stays on the list for the third straight event with his super nice 1979 Malibu in #8 spot with a 11.55 which is identical to Scott Gerhardt's equally clean 1968 Cutlass that gets on the list in #9 with a 11.55 also and because of exactly the same ET's is only there because of Paul's faster MPH. Shaun Teo is now gatekeeper with his 2009 Nissan GTR which I seen him cruising around the pits with, most likely looking for a roll bar so he can show the cars 10 second potential. This event also brought out Colin Gee's 1965 LS powered twin turbo Nova from Regina to try and get on the list but some turbo inlet sealing problems kept it from showing it's 8 second potential but the coolest thing is he drove it from Regina to Saskatoon pulling a small trailer drag week style. We look forward to seeing him come back and showing us what the Regina guys can do. Looking forward to next event the race master, namely me, will be bringing my Falcon out to hopefully get on the list and to finally give some hope to the Dodge guys out there Paul Fehr will bringing his 1968 GTX which has run 11.0's on motor and has a nitrous system on it to send it into the 10's will also try out for a spot.

As always Performance Plus and the Street Legal committee thank you for coming out and it was great to see the stands with all the spectators and hope to see them and all you racers next Friday night.

This week’s Performance Plus Top Ten List had a number of changes as things have already started to heat up.

Jeff Campbell took a major leap to the top of the list with his twin turbo Nova which he is willing to show us that it is a real street car with a summer cruise later this year. Andy McElwee brought his super clean BBC powered nitrous Nova and easily slid into the number 2 slot with a car that shows a ton of potential as was shown by his off the gas 134 mph run. His Car is Chassis tagged to 8.50 and he will be going for his NHRA license in a couple weeks. Curtis Knops moves to #3 with his 2000 Camaro from #1 last week but you cannot count his tuning abilities so expect to see him hanging around for quite a while. Trent Turner in his low profile LS powered nitrous Malibu pulls into #4 and look for him to get quicker as the year moves on using a ton of ingenuity to get the job done. Chris Spence was back this week to improve to a 11.52 with his BBC Chevy powered Mustang and Paul Balez was just behind Chris Spence in #6 spot with his 11.55 from last week in his beautiful 1979 Malibu, retaining his position from last week in #7 spot was Shaun Teo who tried to no avail to slow down his 2009 Nissan GTR so holds on to his ET from last week till the roll bar gods show up at his door. #8 position goes to Rob Graham who was also trying to slow Mustang down after a nitrous injection, I thought I saw his foot out the door through top end but a with a soon to be installed roll bar look for some quicker ET's from this one. Kent Ashworth in #9 with his 1998 T/A and in gate keeper spot goes to the Chevy powered Mazda RX-7 of Tyler Smith.

Performance Plus and the Street Legal committee look forward to what we hope will be an exciting year for you and us and hope to see you and your cars out at SIR.
